the story behind the class

Reap What You Sow was born out of my own rediscovery of working in a sketchbook and the beautiful practice of art journaling that had brought me so much joy in difficult times. Creating classes straight from my studio was something I had wanted to do for so long. With my workshops and in-person events canceled life slowed down even more and space was created to fulfill this dream. I was able to share the benefits, to help you uncover your personal style, to explore the possibilities of a variety of accessible media, and give you the confidence to approach a blank page and make space for this empowering creative practice. I have a deep desire to empower folk to find the confidence to connect with their creativity by gently inviting them to adapt to the rhythms of nature, to nourish themselves and begin their own art journaling practice.

why I journal

Art journaling is such a big part of my practice as an artist. Working in sketchbooks was something that came naturally when I was at art college but as the years went on I started to work on paper and although I loved the freedom of that I yearned for that space inside the covers, a space that was less demanding. A space to explore and play and a space that gives you the courage to step out of your comfort zone and just see where you are taken.  Sketchbooks are for me such a safe place, I love the format of a book, that way it makes you feel when you peel open a slightly sticky page and the smell of the materials jumps out transporting me back to my art college days in communal studios alive with creativity. For me as an artist I learn so much about myself and my practice by looking back over the pages of my journals, sometimes (well most of the time) my head is so full of ideas and possibilities that I forget but what I love about my journal is I can capture it quite quickly, without words or explanation and come back to it when I need to.
