Moonlit Flora VII
An original artwork created from a series of photograms made using wildflowers.
Captivated by the magic of The Cottingley Fairies photographs, the ephemeral nature of other worlds, folklore and mythology this series of botanical watercolour and mixed media works on paper was born.
Each piece has been hand-painted, collaged and stitched on beautiful 320gsm handmade paper with a imperfectly perfect deckled edge.
The watercolour washes found in each image harks back to the hand-colouring of monochrome photography of the late-19th century. And the black stitches reminiscent of the dance of marks created by the insects of the night.
Each piece is signed, with title and signature in pencil and will be posted with a copy of the Moonlit Flora poem and a certificate of authentication.
This artwork is part of the Artist Support Pledge, started by Matthew Burrows in response to Covid-19 crisis, generating income for self-employed artists who have lost freelance work. Artists post work for sale under £200 and when they reach £1000 worth of sales through the scheme, they pledge to spend £200 on another artist's work.
