Substack: A New Space to Create

  • Apr 27

A gentle guide to what Substack is, and why I’m moving my creative work there.

I know some of you might be wondering: What exactly is Substack? I haven't got the brain space for yet another platform, I was thinking the exact same thing BUT I've fallen totally and I wanted to make it easy to understand so you can find the joy too.

Substack is like a blend of an old-fashioned blog and a personal letter delivered to your inbox. Every writer on Substack has their own page — like a mini-website — where you can find all of their posts and letters in one place.

You can visit my Substack page any time to read the latest updates, OR you can subscribe and receive new posts directly by email — just like receiving a letter from me in your inbox.

Substack also has a free app for your phone or tablet, which makes it even easier to read posts. The app shows the newest posts from the writers you follow — in the order they were published, with no complicated algorithms deciding what you see. It’s simple, calm, and designed for readers.

You can save posts you love, leave a comment, or simply enjoy browsing at your own pace.I like to think of it as having your own little collection of favourite letters, gathered quietly in one place.

If you'd like an even deeper guide to how Substack works, you can also read A Reader’s Guide to Substack here.(It’s a simple, step-by-step article written by the Substack team.)

It’s a lovely alternative to the fast, noisy world of social media — a gentler way to stay connected to meaningful words and ideas.

Why I’ve Moved to Substack

For a long time now, I've been feeling the need for a slower, more meaningful way to share my work. Social media feels to fast, to loud, and overwhelming for me now, full of adverts that distract me, algorithms that frustrate me, and the pressure to keep up.

Substack feels different. It feels a little old-school — like the earlier days of the internet, before everything became filtered through corporate platforms and endless scrolling. There are no adverts. There’s no algorithm deciding what you see. It's simply a space for writing, sharing, and connecting — directly between me and you.

I wanted to create a space where we could step outside the noise, outside the attention race, and return to something richer and more intentional.

Substack gives me the freedom to write and share in a way that feels truer to my values: slow creativity, deep connection, and meaningful storytelling.

If you'd like to join me there, you can visit The Creatrixes Cauldron on Substack and subscribe for free. There’s also an option to become a paid subscriber if you’d like to go a little deeper into the creative work I’ll be sharing.

I’m so looking forward to creating and connecting with you in this beautiful new space.
